2025 preskates & clinics
The Haverford Hawks offers preskates and checking clinics prior to evaluations/tryouts. These clinics are meant to provide players with the type of drills and skills they will be expected to perform at evaluations/tryouts.
Dates
The Haverford Hawks offer pre-skates and checking clinics so players* can prepare for tryouts/evaluations. These will consist of drills and scrimmaging. These will be held at the Skatium in Havertown.
Preskates
10u: 3/17 5:15 to 6:30 pm, 3/19 5:25 to 6:40 pm
12u: 3/18 5:25 to 6:40 pm, 3/20 5:25 to 6:40 pm
14u: 3/31 5:15 to 6:30 pm, 4/2 5:25 to 6:40 pm
15u & 16u: 3/31 6:40 to 7:55 pm, 4/2 6:50 to 8:05 pm
Updated to include both 2009 & 2010 birth years

Checking Clinic Information
The checking clinics will be for our 2011 and 2012 birth year Hawks. Players will be grouped appropriately by age and skill level.
Clinic topics will include:
- body checking technique - safely initiating and receiving contact
- angling - stick and body
- puck protection - using your body as leverage
Hawks coaches leading the clinics:
Pat Ferrill
Head Coach, 13AA
Pat boasts nearly four decades of coaching and leadership experience across all levels of youth hockey.
On the ice, he has served as head coach across every age level including college, high school, and Tier I and II youth hockey clubs and tournament teams. Pat was the head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers Quebec PeeWee tournament team for 18 years. Six of Pat's teams qualified for the USA Hockey National Championships. Pat is a certified USA Hockey Level 5 coach, continuing with over 25 years of service with the Player Development Program in USA Hockey's Atlantic District, including several years coaching at National Player Development Camps. His coaching experience also includes InLine hockey - a silver medal as head coach of Team USA at the 1998 World Junior Challenge and a gold medal at the 1999 World Championships as assistant coach and team leader.
Off the ice, Pat served as the President of the Flyers Elite Youth Hockey Club (formerly Team Comcast) for 20 years. He spent 22 years working for the Philadelphia Flyers, overseeing operations of the Flyers Skate Zone and several Tier I and II youth hockey clubs. His experience also includes working in business development for the National Hockey League.
During his coaching career, Pat has worked with over a hundred players that have earned the opportunity to play NCAA Division I hockey while - more importantly - helping thousands of players foster a love for the great game of hockey while learning valuable life skills along the journey.
Pat was the head coach of the 2024-25 16A Hawks, leading the team to the AHF Championship title.
Eric Kraus
Head Coach, 14AA
Eric currently serves as the Hawks Director of Hockey (after previously serving as Assistant Director). A former player and graduate of The Episcopal Academy, Eric brings almost ten years of coaching experience to the Hawks. He is currently a certified USA Hockey Level 4 coach. Eric was the head coach of the 2023-24 12AA Hawks, leading the team to the Atlantic District Championship.
Kevin Burke
Assistant Coach, 14AA
Kevin currently serves as the Hawks Assistant Director of Hockey. A former player and graduate of Cardinal O'Hara High School and Drexel University, Kevin has over a decade of experience coaching players of all age and skill levels. Kevin is a certified USA Hockey Level 5 coach and also works for the coaching development program for USA Hockey's Atlantic District. In 2018, Kevin was named a finalist for the National Double-Goal Coach Award sponsored by the Positive Coaching Alliance.
Kevin was the assistant coach of the 2023-24 12AA Hawks, helping lead the team to the Atlantic District Championship.

No, payment will be made at each clinic. $20 cash will be collected at the door.
