Atoms Program

Our Atoms program is an introductory skating/hockey program for the first-time player between the ages of 5-8. It is a full-season winter program (September-February) that teaches the concept of cross-ice team play from day one. Our goal is for each player to develop every aspect of their skills to move up to our Mite travel teams.

Once basic skills have been established, the program places the players onto an Atoms team, so they will play in-Hawks games against other teams. Teams may also play in some games and tournaments against other local Atoms programs.

Program Highlights Include:
Skating - learning proper power skating, inside-outside edge use, forward and backward strides
Stickhandling - basics, hand-position, fakes
Positional Play - offense, defense, goaltending
Shooting - wrist shots, snapshots, backhand shots
Team Play - Nothing gives a child a better feeling than being grouped onto a team. The Atoms program divides players in to teams, giving them the opportunity to play in-Hawks games against other teams, and some games/tournaments against other local Atoms programs.
