About The Hawks

The Haverford Hawks is a Tier II USA Hockey Travel Hockey Club for area hockey players. We are proud members of the Atlantic Hockey Federation (AHF). The AHF is a USA Hockey sanctioned elite tier-II youth hockey league.

Our Youngest Hawks - The Atoms

Our Atoms program is an introductory skating/hockey program for the first-time player between the ages of 5-8. It is a full-season winter program (September-February) that teaches the concept of cross-ice team play from day one. Our goal is for every child to develop every aspect of their skills, to eventually move up to our Mite travel teams.

Once basic skills have been established, the program places the players onto an Atoms team, allowing them to play in-Hawks games against other teams. They may also play in some games and tournaments against other local Atoms programs.

Evaluations / Tryouts For All Teams

Each spring, new and returning players participate in the evaluation / tryout process. This process allows us to see how each child is developing, and place each on a team that is leveled to their skill level. We usually schedule three evaluation / tryouts per age group.

Our Hawks Coaches

All Hawks coaches are USA hockey and SafeSport certified, and follow with Hawks and USA Hockey development models.

Practices and Games

On average, our teams practice twice a week. We average 36-40 regular-season games (plus possible playoffs) and one free travel tournament. The teams travel increasingly more as the players progress through the system.

Building Bridges - Haverford Hawks Finland Cultural Exchange

The Hawks is one of a few youth ice hockey clubs in the U.S. with a trans-Atlantic cultural exchange. In its 21st year, the Exchange has enabled more than 900 Hawks and Viikingit Hockey Club players from Helsinki, Finland to play hockey, have fun, and make friendships. In alternating years, the Hawks Pee Wee teams host players from the Viikingit Hockey Club for an international hockey tournament at the Skatium, and Hawks Bantam teams travel to Helsinki for a 10-day experience that includes a tournament.

The Finland Exchange has been the foundation for lifelong friendships and life-changing experiences for players and their families. Learn more on the Finland Exchange website.
